Communicating brilliantly is what distinguishes a leader – or a potential one – who can take people with them from one who relies on positional authority.
It is how a talented professional handles the tough conversations that come with difficult projects and constant change. It is what marks out a team that excels from one that gets by.
How do we develop honest, authentic professional personas with which we are congruent and comfortable? How do we inspire the confidence and respect of colleagues both up and down the hierarchy? How to engage those outside the University with calmness and energy?
As ever, the course is designed in conjunction with a client’s needs, but topics that can be explored include:
- Understanding status and interpersonal dynamics
- Developing confidence
- Strengthening physical and vocal presence
- The problem with passivity and the failure of aggression
- The nature and effects of clear, honest communication
- Gaining respect through genuine assertiveness
- Listening actively
- Building rapport and trust
- Managing difficult conversations
- Authenticity in communication
- Adapting one’s communication style to the context
Overall, the course will increase participants’ ability to communicate their ideas and personality, interact with and influence others and make a positive impact in a variety of situations, from one-to-one encounters to group meetings.
What our clients say
[The] interpretation of the brief, tailoring of content and varied delivery made for a productive and enjoyable event … I wouldn’t hesitate to use Pete or VOX again.
… an inspiring coach who makes an enduring difference to the way people communicate, lead and manage.
Participants find the sessions great fun, and at the same time are amazed at how blind they might have been to their own and others’ behaviours, be it in a meeting, or relationships with junior or senior colleagues.
I had a fantastic experience with VOX Coaching … in preparation for interviews for large grants from research councils. In simple words, without [their] help, it would have been very challenging to perform well at the interview.
Engaging, professional, dynamically responsive to clients’ needs. Well said and well done!
